Finder’s Fee Paid to Dealers, Agents and Collectors who make me aware of Collections at Estate Sales
Dealers, agents, and collectors that attend local estate sales, auctions and liquidations will be paid for letting me know about Chinese stamps, postal history and collections that are available in their local market. I don’t have time to attend local estate auctions where few Chinese stamps are sold. I prefer paying a dealer, agent or collector who brings a Chinese collection, postal history or stamp to my attention.
Here is my fee schedule for this “finder-agent” role:
1. Stamps and collections that cost me under $700: 10% of the total cost to me of my winning bid (hammer + buyer’s premium) with a minimum fee of $10 for stamps under $100 and a maximum fee of $50.
2. Stamps and collections that cost me $700-$1,500: 8% of the total cost to me of my winning bid (hammer + buyer’s premium) or $100, whichever is less.
3. Stamps and collections that cost me $1,501-$3,000: 7% of the total cost to me of my winning bid(hammer +buyer’s premium) or $175, whichever is less.
4. Stamps and collections that cost me $3001-$5,000: 6% of the total cost to me of my winning bid(hammer +buyer’s premium) or $250, whichever is less.
5. Stamps and collections that cost me $5,001-$12,500: 5% of the total cost to me of my winning bid(hammer +buyer’s premium) or $500, whichever is less.
6. Stamps and collections that cost me $12,501-$20,000: 4% of the total cost to me of my winning bid(hammer +buyer’s premium) or $700, whichever is less.
In return for being paid as an agent-finder, I want you to text or email me pictures or scans of the collection. I will ask you to accurately describe the faults and flaws of certain stamps, and to get hi-quality scans (or pictures) of the front and back of certain hi-value stamps. I will bid directly with the auction house but may require a local introduction. In certain instances, I may ask you to bid for me (I will want to be live over the phone with you). Upon receipt and acceptance of my winnings (some may require an extension), I will pay you by check or PayPal.
This fee schedule only applies to local estate sales, estate auctions, estate liquidations, flea markets, garage sales, and small venues that I would miss out on without a heads up from you. Please keep your eyes open and think of me as you look at items for sale at local auctions. The fee schedule does NOT apply to stamp auctions accessible through Stamp Auction Network or Philasearch. This is a good way to make $ while doing what you love to do (looking at stamps while attending estate auctions!) without having to risk any of your own money. Please let me know when you see Chinese stamps and covers: jon@chinesestampbuyer.com .
